The butchery ‘Nuova Macelleria Su Fruscu’ has always been a synonymous with genuineness and
quality. Located at the heart of the historical centre of Atzara, just behind the fine well of the
Count of San Martino and the Aragonese ‘Casa Muggianu’, the butchery ‘Nuova Macelleria Su Fruscu’
was re-established by a young man from Atzara who passionately wanted to valorise the quality of
local products to offer them in a modern key.
As a very young man, Giuseppe Virdis was forced to emigrate to the north of Italy to shape
his own future. Now, back home in Atzara, he has rediscovered the value of his own land and runs a
valuable family business, offering high-quality products that are sought-for in the whole region of
Mandrolisai.
Exclusively fresh meats, coming from the lushing local pastures, are treated with know-how
and care, to supply the best to customers. Carefully selected meats are finely worked and offered
with warmth and kindness, resulting from a real passion for this job.
Feather to the hat of the Virdis family are cured products, thoroughly manufactured using
only fresh and certified meats. ‘Sa marandula’, hams, ‘coppa’, fresh and seasoned sausages are all
one and the same with freshness and naturalness. The finest meats are also used by the Virdises to
prepare the most excellent dish of Atzara tradition, called ‘S’Ortau’. Skilfully cooked by the
locals, it is best appreciated when accompanied by the wines of Mandrolisai.
