The laboratory was established in November 2005. At first, it was focused on dyeing yarns and textiles with natural dyes, but soon the appeal of colours inspired and fostered our fantasy, leading us to create various handicrafts, such as furniture fittings, clothing accessories, knitting items, etc.
Every article is exclusively obtained from natural fibres, either of animal (wool and silk) and vegetal origin (cotton, flax and jute). All these fibres are dyed in natural colours, of vegetal and animal origin, too. From dyeing to manufacturing, the process cycle is totally artisan, as it employs the same manual skills that once ‘labelled’ Sardinian products to ensure a unique quality and originality worldwide. The resulting creations are marked by a rich tradition matching the needs of modern society, increasingly involved in a search for safe products, i.e. free from any substances having an adverse impact on the environment and on human health.
In addition to the production process, educational workshops, courses and seminars are also
organized in the laboratory, aiming to preserve a tradition recovered thanks to the memories of
elderly villagers. Activities are addressed either to school groups and nature enthusiasts,
including anyone who wishes to approach and explore the charming art of natural dyeing.
