Fradiles (meaning ‘cousins’ in Sardinian language) stems from a passion for wine and its
tradition. It was created by a few young landowners from Atzara, linked by relationship, who wished
to restore their ancient family business.
Historically well-known as expert wine growers and producers, people from Atzara are now
represented within the Sardinian wine sector by the Fradiles winery.
The Fradiles Company aims at recuperating and safeguarding local wine heritage, in accordance
with quality requirements, by producing as fine as simple wines, whose superior quality is closely
related to the farming tradition of Atzara.
Indeed, the vineyards growing upon a hill at the heart of Mandrolisai (in an area called ‘
Creccherì’) include vines of local varieties, such as ‘Muristellu’ (Sardinian ‘Bovale’ cultivar), ‘
Cannonau’ and ‘Monica’.
The winery is located right in proximity to the vineyards, so that grapes – manually picked –
may be immediately conveyed to the wine-making process. As a result, wine acquires an unmistakable
character, thoroughly faithful to the tradition that has made the village of Atzara renowned.
Today, the Fradiles winery has become a chief company in the region of Mandrolisai; its wines are
appreciated throughout Sardinia and beyond its boundaries, as confirmed by the many prizes awarded
at national and international levels. Wines of ‘Cantina Fradiles’ can be found in the best
restaurants and wine shops. But Fradiles Wines are more than this: they are robust wines expressing
the true ‘Fradiles style’.
